The Story: Governance as Resistance
The foundation of GovCircle is rooted in a fundamental belief:
the right to shape one’s future should never be denied by centralized power or geopolitical borders.
Our vision for decentralized governance was directly challenged when contributors were blocked from participating in crucial governance avenues, including the formation of Member Based Organizations (MBOs). This exclusion occurred because primary governance support entities, such as Intersect, are registered in the USA. Due to this registration, they must comply with United States government regulations, which ultimately resulted in the blocking of contributors based solely on their jurisdiction.
This exclusion did not silence us; it fueled our vision for a different path—one that required no central permission to contribute.
GovCircle emerged from this movement: an MBO initiative dedicated to ensuring that all governance actors—DReps, SPOs, and the Constitutional Committees—have the tools to communicate, collaborate, and make transparent decisions on-chain, regardless of their background or location. For us, decentralized governance is not just a concept—it is a form of resistance. GovCircle is our commitment to building a freer, more accountable world where no one is left out.
